How we protect your data

We have put in place appropriate secutiry measures to prevent your information from being accidently lost, used or accessed in an unauthorizd way, altered or disclosed. We only allow access to your personal data to those employees and partners that have a buisness need to know such data. They will only process personal data on our instructions and must keep it confidential.

Due to the inherent open nature of the internet, we can not ensure the security of any information provided online. We have put in place procedures to deal with suspected data breaches and will notify you of nay breach tha may affect you. WE will also notify any applicable regulator of such breahes where we are legally required to do so.

How long we keep your data

We will retain your information for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose that we collected it for. This includes the purpose of satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements. This is usually for a minimum of 7 years. 

In determination of the appropriate retention period we consider the following, the amount of information, the nature and sensitivity of the information, the purposes for which we process the information and the potential risk from unauthorised use or disclosure of your information. 

In some cases we may anonymize your personal information, so that it can no longer be associated with you, for research or statistical purposes. In this case the information may be used indefinitely without further notice to you. 

 Please note that if you leave a comment, the comment is metadata and is retained indefinitely.

Your rights

You may access the Personal Information we hold about you and to update and/or correct it, subject to certain exceptions. If you wish to access your Personal Information, please contact us in writing outlining the specific information that you would like access to.

Journey to a Better Place will not charge any fee for your access request, but may charge an administrative fee for providing a copy of your Personal Information.

In order to protect your personal information we may require identification from you before releasing the requested information to an external provider.

Upon your request, your personal information will only be released to an external health care provider (including those interstates or overseas) if they can guarantee their ability to comply with the Australian Privacy Act. These documents will be sent in a password protected document via email to your chosen health care provider. Alternatively, you can collect a copy of the documents and deliver them yourself.

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
